We are so proud of the work our officers do every day! We have an amazing department full of people dedicated to serving our community. They go above and beyond, not just enforcing the law, but really engaging with and serving the public. Whether it’s hosting community events, collecting toys at Christmas for those less fortunate, or just comforting someone in pain or distress, they are out there every day making Simpsonville a better place to live, work, and play. It is not an exaggeration to say they put their lives on the line for us every day. They encounter many dangerous situations and have to make split second decisions on how to respond. Having joined them for a training experience with a simulator, I have just a very tiny insight into just how stressful that is. I cannot even imagine what that’s like in real life. So to say we are grateful for all they do is really an understatement. And a Facebook post is hardly sufficient. I am glad we were able to provide pay increases for them this past year with a plan in place to continue working towards appropriate compensation for length of service. In the meantime, if you see an officer today, please join me in thanking him or her for the work they do every day–much of it unseen–it’s the very least we can do.
